Some Good Deals

As a Bride I'm all about having the best things....but I've also been in some weddings and know how expensive things can get! By the time you buy the dress, shoes, accessories, a bachelorette party gift, a shower gift, a wedding gift you can spend well over $150 without even realizing it! I have wonderful Bridesmaids and they would've bought any dress that I picked out but I wanted to get something they could possibly wear again and something that didn't cost them a fortune! I found several dresses I loved but they were well over $200 so I kept looking...with the help of my girls of course! We finally found a dress at David's Bridal for $99! I was so excited...and I hope they were too...a black cocktail dress that they can hopefully wear again. It didn't have the detail that I liked on a few of the other dresses but we just decided to get a broach for the side and it would be perfect!

The dress can be seen here:

I also wanted to keep my Flower Girls in mind when picking out a dress for them to wear. I had seen a few dresses I liked for around $50 and didn't think that was too bad but decided to keep looking. I happened to be at Target looking at baby clothes for a friend and stumbled upon the Easter dresses...how perfect! I never even thought to look at those..frilly white dresses with a bow...what more could you want for a Flower Girl or Easter dress?! The best part...it was $18! Since the girls are so young and still growing we had to guess what size they'll be...we got 2 sizes for them and if need be we'll take one back or have one taken in...but for $18 it's worth it...their parents thought so too!

I'm sure I'll have some more good deals to post along the way...at least I hope I will...until then...here's to Saying I Do:)

The Details

So now for some details of the wedding...our wedding will be held outside at the Bryn Du Mansion on the patio. Having an outside wedding has always been my dream and Bryn Du has a field house where we can move the wedding in case of rain...but it's not going to rain so we don't have to worry about that. The reception will be held inside the Field House at the same location. Having the wedding and the reception at the same location makes things so easy...and allows less waiting time for guests. I've been to several weddings where I've had to wait around forever for the bride and groom to arrive at the reception and I didn't want to do that to our guests....plus Bryn Du is gorgeous and the event planner is wonderful! I'm so excited to have this as our venue. The only down side is we have to rent our own tables and chairs and linens...the only thing that comes with renting Bryn Du is the patio itself as well as the Field House. Tables...chairs...linens...center pieces...chair covers...etc can get very pricey....unless your a DIY Bride....good thing I am! In the next few posts I'll show you some things we've done ourselves to spruce up the place without breaking the bank but still having a great venue!

A Little Bit of Luck

Yesterday my mom and I went to a bridal show...I got some pretty good ideas and ruled out some vendors. I even won a prize too! This is the second time I've won a prize at a bridal show....the first time I won $100 cash and this time I won some toasting flutes....they're really nice but I have my parents from their wedding that we want to use...but hey I won!

I've Joined...

So it looks like I've joined the world of blogging...I never thought I'd do it...never thought I'd have enough to blog about...but when you're planning a wedding that all changes! We're getting married July 17th, 2010...a little less than 5 months...we have a lot done....but a lot more to do. I think this blog will be more of a stress relief for me...and a good way to document everything we have done...and need to get done...and I hope you all will get some good ideas for your upcoming weddings. If I can help out a bride or two throughout this planning process and make it to my wedding day still sane I'll consider it a double success! Good luck to those of you planning...here's to Saying I Do :)
